Conditions where the main issues are the result of muscle or tendon weakness leading to hypermobility or joint instability. This is the situation found in Phase 4 and 5 of a CSM Stretch or Compress type dysfunction as well as can supplement any phase where the patient feels better after treatment but the effects do not last. The types of treatment that would be effective would be ones that focus on the strengthening of muscles / tendons and increasing joint stability.
This would include the following treatments:
- Physiotherapist
- Kinesiologist
- Trainer
- Pilates / Core strength /.DNS
- Other = Any therapy which focuses on muscle / tendon strength and improving joint stability.
Types of dysfunction
CSM Stretch – Phase 4: Muscle / Tendon phase
- The determining factor for this phase of healing is pain only when moving under loaded stress (eg. weighted exercises) or power movements, ( eg. running, jumping, throwing)?
- The muscles/ tendons / joints have healed to the point that there is pain-free movement when not under stress. But the body is not strong / resilient enough to handle more aggressive movements or movements under load such as weights.
- Expected healing time: The patient should have no pain when moving under loaded stress (eg. weighted exercises) or power movements, ( eg. running, jumping, throwing)? after 4-12 weeks from the time the patient enters the phase or begins therapy with an appropriate therapist.
CSM Compress – Phase 4: Muscle / Tendon phase
CSM Stretch or Compress – Phase 5: Stability phase
- The determining factor for this phase of healing is pain which is only present after activity and NO pain during the activity.
- The muscles/ tendons / joints are strong enough to do any activities without pain. But the body has poor biomechanics due to being injured in the past or poor training. As well as the body is compensating for weaknesses in other parts of the body outside of the recently injured area.
- Expected healing time: The patient should have no pain during or after activities after 1-6 months from the time the patient enters the phase or begins therapy with an appropriate therapist
CSM STRENGTH / STABILITY GROUP:
Our therapists will help you with the appropriate exercises / stretches / self massaging to correct issues with biomechanics and posture. This will ensure you graduate from the current phase of healing in a quick and efficient manner as well as preventing injuries in the future. They will monitor your progress and adjust the treatment accordingly and inform you when you are ready for reassessment so you get the most appropriate therapist at all times for your condition.
